Udeepcynp in the foothills of the Sierra, and on up above Forest Hill, there is a winding road down into the Middle Fork of The American River Canyon, named "Mosquito Ridge Road". At the bottom, the "Circle Bridge"" crosses the river and the road climbs up the other side. After a few miles, a sign points to "Deep Canyon". The narrow pavement soon gives way to gravel. At the bottom a small steel bridge crosses over an upper tributary of the river, and you can hike uphill along an old '49er trail. It's a beautiful canyon and wild. I once met a gold miner in there and asked him about other pretty places in the canyon. He told me of one downstream that I'd love to visit sometime, but said I'd need ropes and pitons, so I guess I'll have to wait until next lifetime when I can start off with a newer, more robust body. This painting looks somewhat like a photograph ... some of my paintings do. I actually tried to photograph it, but even "HDR" (High Dynamic Range") photography could not capture it. I think partly that's because there is a spiritual dimension un-attainable via camera. That's how I got into painting, anyway ... to catch the spiritual dimension.
