Aspens In Hope Valley
his is up near the junction of highway 88 and 89 in the slope coming down from Luther Pass a few years ago in November. That's Roundtop in the background. You pass by it on Hwy 88 near Caples Lake near Carson Pass. These mountains were actially around to the left of the scene but I thought they ought to be the background so I moved them over. That's one of the advantages painting has over photography.

The prints are made on canvas or paper. This one is a signed and numbered Limited Edition of 100 prints 20 x 24 with archival pigment inks on rag paper at $200 apiece. There is one artist's proof at $500. The artist's proof is a tradition stemming from the days of stone lithographs. The image quality degraded rapidly as subsequent prints were made, so the first ones were ordinarily best. With modern prints this is no longer a problem. So, other than being numbered "AP 1", it is identical, but it is the result of a lot of fooling around getting it right, so it is more valuable even if you wouldn't know which one it was without being told.
